Salt Spring Island Painters’ Guild Summer Show at ArtSpring

The Salt Spring Painters Guild’s summer show and sale promises some exciting new work from local artists, using a variety of techniques and mediums. Whether working on their own or participating in the Guild’s excellent educational opportunities, the members have put together a show whose inspiration is “Reflection of Summer”, featuring various locales around the Island.

The show runs until August 1, open daily from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Salt Spring Chalk Circle

A live original music and theatre show presented by Graffiti Theatre in Centennial Park. Runs July 28-31, and Aug. 4-7. 7:30 p.m. Tickets at the gate or through ArtSpring.

Live music at the Tree House Cafe from 7 to 10:30 p.m.

Lloyd English and Friends

Live jazz at the Harbour House lounge from 6:30 to 9 p.m.

Simone & The Soul Intentions

Live music at Shipstones. 7 p.m.

Friday, July 29

The Anglican Parish of SSI is holding it's annual Salmon BBQ on Friday July 29 andJuly 30. The menu includes fresh wild salmon, salads, dessert and beverage for $15. Hamburgers and Hot Dogs are available for $7. Dinner is served between 5:30 and7:00.

This is a major fundraising event that raises money to support a variety of worthycauses both close to home and abroad.

On Salt Spring & the Gulf Islands the funds will assist:Soup's On! community Lunch at All Saint's ChurchGrandma's House and Bittancourt, short term housing for men and womenBursaries for Camp Columbia, a summer camp on Thetis island

In Juarez, Mexico money will assist Centro Santa Catalina , a women's cooperativethat focuses on women helping themselves and their families survive poverty andviolence through faith, education and self-employment.

In Kenya, funds will provide impoverished children with school uniforms and safedrinking water.

This is an event that is not to be missed. Bring your family and friends and enjoy atasty meal while helping others.

Saturday Market in the Park

Salt Spring's famous market of up to 150 vendors selling arts and crafts, food and farm products. In Centennial Park in Ganges. 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Please note: no dogs are allowed in the market.

Every Saturday during the Market (if it's not raining).Car Wash Fundraiser for Search and Rescue.In the parking lot behind Saltspring Coffee Company.A $15 or greater donation gets you a free coffee.Support your local chapter of Search and Rescue.
