Save Our Surgery

In 2004, a new "state of the art" operating room was completed at Lady Minto Hospital, together with an excellent Central Supply Room to provide sterilization of instruments as required by the new standards.

This project was funded by the Capital Region District, the Vancouver Island health Authority and, at the request of the VIHA, $780,000 from the Lady Minto Hospital Foundation.

Dr. Preshaw, the then resident surgeon, was informed in 2007 that, on the recommendation of Dr. Shane Barclay, his privileges at LMH would not be extended beyond December 2007.

He had the right to appeal this decision and did so.

As a result, the Vancouver Island Health Authority accorded an extension of his privileges to June 30, 2008.

But, as of July 2008, the operating room at Lady Minto Hospital has not been operating...

We will have an information booth at the Fall Fair 2009 at the Farmers Institute on Rainbow Road on Saturday, September 19 and Sunday, September 20.

We'll be adding to the 1200 signatures of support we have gathered. Our goal is to have 3000 signatures of support and to then march on the legislature in Victoria.

The "Raging Grannies" will be in attendance at both the Fall Fair and Victoria.
